The tip about? the ...
The tip about? the single shot is great Dom, thank you.

What if you are ...
What if you are shooting outside? I wanted to click some nocturnal birds. Could not set the focus at all... You cannot use that illuminator (or any other light source) as? it scares the birds. Tried focusing manually in Night vision and then switching back to Manual, but it too had lot of noise. Could not focus properly.

Does this Canon 5d ...
Does this Canon 5d Mark ii have this feature? I haven't bought? it yet but I thinking about purchasing it soon.

Thanks Dom. You, ...
Thanks Dom. You, Digital Rev, and that other Bald guy are my Go-to camera guys.?

I think he means ...
I think he means when you're standing square on with the finish line, and say the horses were moving from left to right, you start off shooting bursts and panning with them as they begin to cross the line. Maybe you should look into the Sony A77. I've never used it but it has a translucent mirror that? can autofocus a lot faster than DSLR.

is your lens? tammy 17-50 dom? was it good?

on most canons they ...
on most canons they will pop up the built-in flash and strobe it at full power if you don't turn it off. Very blinding, very annoying, also bad for battery life and taking pictures in general. With the 430 series, 580 series, and similarly built canon speedlights there is a red auto-focus light just like that SB-900. Yeah, nothing beats the user friendly-ness of a nikon that I've? seen

Fuji made several ...
Fuji made several cameras with their own sensors in nikon based bodies, they even take the same lenses. Their super CCD have been rated as really freaking? good for portraits as they produce very nice skin tones apparently

I can't seem to ...
I can't seem to focus properly with my Nikon when I use the af assist light in dark places and instead it goes blurry. Is it broken or? do I have it on the wrong settings? I've made sure its not in continous mode and put it as AF-S. Is there anything else I have to do?

Dom This was a ...
Dom This was a great video. I have an old Canon Rebel XT and bought? a speed light for it about a year ago. I could never get it to operate effectively. However I do mostly wildlife stuff out doors and so my autofocus is almost always on continuous. I t never occured to me that it had to be set to single focus mode. I'm definitly going to give this a try.

Old video I know, ...
Old video I know, but I was having inconsistency with my AF illuminator, and looked into why this was after whatching? the video. In addition to what you explain here, Dom, my Nikon, the D3100 needs to be on the center AF point to use the lamp. Any of the other AF points will not trigger the AF illuminator. Don't know why. Is this the case for other Nikons?

That was so much ...
That was so much helpful for me,, I was going nuts when the auto focus assist lamb stopped working,, thought something? wrong with it or i had to have a long google search to activate it. But now its all good :D thanx man

This video has the potential to be scary. Eg. scary man appears while the? SP 900 red focus light comes on in the dark. OoooOooh. Nice video though.

Does this? also ...
Does this? also works on you canon 550d?

Some shots are ...
Some shots are really sharp but in wrong areas, like ass of the horse behind the one I'm shooting, because last time camera got focus as I was panning was few meters before that shot. But I got an idea now, I'll auto-focus on the ground ~0.5m closer then the expected place of the subject, put? it on manual. Hopefully this will give me sharp subject.I thought there's some common solution for this kind of problem.

90 degree shot? as ...
90 degree shot? as in you? see the side of the horses? are you sure it was not your shutterspeed that was the issue not the focus? or look through the view finder zoom in to the max then manually focus on the middel of the finishing line and then leave it there .
